Sick or in Pain but “No Known Cause”

“No known cause” is becoming a more common response health issues which leaves you feeling misunderstood, deflated and frustrated.  You may have a variety of symptoms but yet any tests that are carried out come back as “normal” although you certainly don’t feel “normal”.

I classify these type of health issues as ‘modern day illnesses’.  They don’t have a label (ie a defined term for the illness such as Crohn’s Disease or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) yet we have become accustomed to labels – they appear to put us at ease in some way, even make us feel safe.

For Dr’s labels are useful because it means they have a system for treatment.  Labelling illness is really a box ticking exercise.  If you have a group of symptoms that match a defined illness, you have the disease. Your symptoms have ticked sufficient boxes to give your illness a label.  You are then treated with medication that may mask some of the symptoms but may also cause other uncomfortable side effects.

Times are changing as more people are seeking holistic and natural solutions to their health issues and taking charge of these health.  There will always be a place for allopathic medicine but for some health issues the holistic root is empowering and helps you to become healthy again rather than just masking symptoms.

From my studies and the work I do with my clients to help them overcome their “no known cause” illnesses, I have come to realise that it is more important for a holistic health practitioner such as myself to understand the individual symptoms and address those.  Also, it is important for me to understand why you got sick in the first place.  That may be a new concept to many people to actually consider why they got sick.  Of course there are many reasons someone becomes ill.   Some of these are:

  • Stress
  • Trauma
  • Grief
  • Geopathic Stress
  • Conflict
  • Accident
  • Environmental Toxins
  • Toxic Metals
  • EMFs (electromagnetic fields)
  • Nutrition
  • Lack of water
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol and other addictions
  • Sugar
  • Sweeteners
  • Doing too much physical, mentally or emotionally

The body is incredible because a ‘healthy’ body can cope with a lot of disruption but when the strain on the body becomes too much, the different body systems come under stress.

Did you know there are 11 systems in the body?  11 systems which need to be well regulated in order to work efficiently.  So what are these 11 systems:

  • Cardiovascular / Circulatory system
  • Reproductive system
  • Digestive / Excretory system
  • Lymphatic / Immune system
  • Integumentary/ Exocrine system
  • Endocrine system
  • Muscular system
  • Skeletal system
  • Renal / Urinary system
  • Respiratory system
  • Nervous system

When one system goes wrong = the first sign of symptoms, there may be too much strain on another system = more symptoms and so on.

The best investment you can make is in your health

Being a holistic therapist I work with you to understand your symptoms, what has made you sick and what is keeping you sick.  You are unique and that’s a great place to start.  We can then begin the process of return to good health; helping your body to heal itself using your own innate healing ability.  Taking charge of your health is empowering and it is well reported that people who do just that are more likely to make a better, more complete and speedier return to good health.
