Rest assured that confidentiality is maintained at all times. Everything which happens during a session is kept confidential to Hypnotherapy & Holistic Health. My notes and records are kept in fireproof cabinets which are kept securely locked at all times. At HHH my ethical standards are very high. You will find a professional but friendly and empathetic setting.
There are times when it will be necessary to wait a few weeks for an appointment due to the fact that I am very busy.
All you need to do is come with the issue you wish to resolve and I will decide which therapies are appropriate. I will often combine therapies within a session but this can be so subtle that you wouldn’t notice. I can teach you some therapies such as Emotional Freedom Technique and Emo-Trance giving you these wonderful tools to use when you need them. I work on a very individual basis which means I do not have a set structure so each session is bepoke to the client. You are an individual and are treated as such.
Yes, I do. I am happy to talk to employers to discuss how they would like to use my services. I can also come into the workplace to discuss various therapies and give staff some guidance on the therapies I use and how they can benefit staff members.
Hypnosis is a natural state of heightened inner awareness, the conscious mind quietens and allows access to the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is like a huge, highly organised database of information, gathers information from the time we are in the womb. It works by association so hearing an old song, for example, can take us straight back to a situation years ago, or smelling a particular smell. Our unconscious mind is highly efficient. From that database we develop our beliefs and habits, it is who we are, but as well as collecting good information, it also collects bad. The hypnotherapist talks to the client’s unconscious mind to facilitate the changes the client wishes to make. I help you to re-programme your unconscious mind, to delete unwanted habits, beliefs and behaviours and replace them with the alternative methods of thinking, feeling and behaving which you are seeking to achieve. There are different levels of trance and it is not necessary to be in a very deep trance in order for the process to work.
Yes I do. Because I have a range of therapies, just as with adults, I am able to use the most suitable therapies for each child. I have some fantastic therapies which can help chidlren with all sorts of issues such as bullying, exam anxiety, generalised anxiety, self esteem and self confidence to name a few.
Everyone can be hypnotised, other than those who have some types of mental disability, though some people go into trance more easily than others. A willingness from you to be hypnotised helps and speeds up the process. You are more likely to be hypnotised if you have a need to do so, want to do so and have trust in the person hypnotising you.
The state of trance is different from that of sleep, everyone comes around from hypnosis. Your conscious mind remains aware throughout, so you could bring yourself out of trance at any point, but it is such a lovely place to be that it is very unlikely that you would want to.
Hypnosis will take you into an altered state of awareness, commonly known as trance. Trance is a natural state of deep relaxation and concentration, those who meditate will recognise that experience. In a normal day we all go in and out of trance quite frequently. In trance the mind turns inwards, where it focuses on thoughts, memory, fantasy and other areas. Think daydreaming, or driving to your destination and realising that you have no recollection of getting there!
People have different experiences of the trance state and go into trance at varying depths and because the conscious mind remains aware, some people are unsure as to whether they actually went into trance. It is quite common for people to believe that they were not properly hypnotised because they remember “thinking” during the session, and can remember much, or all, of what happened. You will remember everything that you want to remember. For those people it is likely that the went into a light trance, a very pleasant, relaxing and comfortable state where the desired outcome can still be achieved.
People are often a little apprehensive in their first session and tend to remember everything from that session although they quite often lose track of time, often thinking they have been in trance for much less time than they actually were. Once you are more accustomed to being in trance, you might not remember all that has happened but that does not matter because your unconscious mind has heard every word and it is the unconscious mind that we are reaching out to.
You cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do. You can hear everything being said. Following the session most people remember all that has happened. Short term memory is stored within the conscious mind, which is often very ‘sleepy’ during the session, but as the unconscious mind will have taken everything in, it is normal for memories of some parts to come back at a later stage. Your unconscious mind will allow your conscious mind to remember all that is necessary to achieve the changes you want to.
Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach, nothing like that shown for entertainment such as stage hypnosis. In that situation people volunteer to go on stage and therefore have given permission to the hypnotist to suggest they undertake certain antics. No one can be made to do what they do not want to do.
No matter how deep you go into hypnosis, you will remain in control of the situation. You will be able to talk to the hypnotherapist throughout and bring yourself out of trance at any point. Most people enjoy the pleasant and relaxing state of trance so they have no desire to come out of it.
